Charles Dent Burnette of Port Charlotte, FL passed away Oct. 21, 2021 in his home in Port Charlotte, Fl. surrounded by his family. Charles was a graduate of Bosse H.S. and graduated from the University of Evansville with a business degree in 1950. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
Charles and Carolyn J. Richardson met in Indianapolis and were married in 1962. They moved to Evansville to manage the Brown Derby Motel, later named the Riverboat Motor Inn. Charles and his family relocated to Dallas, Tx. To operate a china and crystal gift shop. He retired in 1993 and returned to his home state settling in Santa Claus.
Charles was an avid sports fan. He was a member of a SWIRCA basketball team. They won State Championships taking them to the National Championships in which they won several times. The friendships he developed through this activity brought him great JOY!
He is survived by his wife of 59 yrs., Carolyn, sons Charles Dent Burnette of Norway, Me., and Brandon R. Burnette (Kathleen) of Durant, Ok., and brother, John Rea (Mardee) of Evansville, In.
Two brothers, Jack Burnette (Gayle) and Rand Burnette (Patricia) stillborn grandson, Robert William Burnette, proceeded him in death.
