Barbara Lois Katz

Barbara Lois Katz, age 78 of Sarasota, FL passed away May 22, 2018. She was born July 7, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY to Ralph and Jeanette “Jean” Lieb. Barbara graduated from Midwood High School in Brooklyn, NY in 1957 and studied at University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. Barbara worked as a secretary, but those who were closest to her would say she was a great homemaker. She will be forever remembered as a wonderful, kind and gentle wife, mother and grandmother. As a mother, she enjoyed cooking and baking. In Sarasota, Barbara enjoyed attending movies, theater, and musical performances of all kinds. Barbara is survived by her husband, Leonard Katz; daughter, Beth (Jim) Cicchetti; son, David Katz (Chuck Whittington); grandchildren, Vincent Cicchetti, Samantha Cicchetti, Jonathan Cicchetti, and Zachary Cicchetti; and sister, Carole Obernauer. She is preceded in death by her parents. A Memorial Service for Barbara will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 3 PM at Palms-Robarts Funeral Home and Memorial Park; 170 Honore Ave., Sarasota, FL 34232. Interment will follow the service at Temple Beth Sholom Cemetery; 901 Circus Blvd, Sarasota, FL 34232. To end the events for the day, a reception will follow the burial where memories of Barbara can be shared.
