Annette Moore Worthy was born in Waukegan, IL, October 31, 1958. She was the first daughter of the late Margaret Miller Moore and late Andrew Moore, born a fraternal twin. She grew up in North Chicago.
She proudly joined the United States Air Force in May of 1980. Two years later she met her life partner of 36-years, Charles A. Worthy, a United States Air Force Law Enforcement Specialist, in San Antonio, Texas. Soon after they relocated to Andersen Air Force Base Guam, and had their first child, Patrice N. Worthy, in 1983. The family relocated again to Del Rio, Texas, where she happily enjoyed life and friends. Annette was always a family-oriented person; the doors to her home were always open for the younger troops for a meal, even if she wasn’t the cook.
In 1990, Annette and Charles relocated again to Sembach Air Force Base, Germany. Annette loved to travel the beautiful landscape of Deustchland and throughout Europe, whether her family wanted to or not. From EuroDisney in Paris, France to Italy and Spain you could find her traveling and laughing with family and close military friends. During this time Annette became interested in medicine because of father’s early diagnosis of prostate cancer and her own diagnosis and successful treatment of Hodgkin’s Disease.
In 1994 Annette and the family said farewell to Germany and moved on to Charleston Air Force Base in Charleston, South Carolina for some southern charm. Soon after relocating the family welcomed their second daughter, Alexandra C. Worthy in 1994. While still enlisted, in pursuit of her interest in being a nurse, Annette attended The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) to pursue her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Annette retired from the Air Force in December 31, 2000, leaving with the rank of Master Sargent (E7). Subsequently on May 18, 2001, Annette graduate from MUSC summa cum laude.
In 2002, Annette and family moved to Sarasota, Florida, where her nursing career started at Sarasota Memorial. There is not a hospital within 50 miles that Annette didn’t work in. She could often be found having long light-hearted conversations with patients, coworkers, and friends. Annette also enjoyed bike riding and sewing.
After many years of working at various hospitals, Annette began working as case manager at Sun City. In 2016 she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Annette passed away peacefully at home on June 28,2018.
Annette is survived by her husband Charles, her daughters, Patrice and Alexandra, her two sisters, Antoinette Moore and Angela (Daniel) Jackson, and her brother Arthur Moore. Annette has been called to duty in heaven alongside her parents and friends. The pain and suffering she endured is over and her new journey begins. As Annette would say, “She is going on vacation and leaving all of us!”
