Ann E. Basham, 82, passed away battling COVID. A fighter to the end, she was determined she could beat COVID, because “her mother lived to be 96 and she is going to outlive her.” After a week in the hospital and pneumonia setting in, she was finally called home to be with Norm, her husband of 56 years.
She was a native Michigan resident, having been born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, grew up in Milan, Michigan and lived in and round southern Michigan for most of her life including Adrian, Shelby Township, and Garden City.
Mom was a teacher in life. She felt she always had something to say, add, or teach on any given subject. She felt over a decade of watching the View qualified her to speak on any subject. At one time her hobbies included sewing, needlepoint, and making jewelry. In her later years she loved to travel, go on cruises, but mostly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She would spend a lot of time looking at the pictures of her grandchildren and hoping they would visit. In the end, she passed away peacefully surrounded by pictures of all of her loved ones.
We thought about having a nice Fiesta at a local Tex-Mex place, but we know how much mom really wants a nice steak. So, we will be having the “mom-version” of steak at the luncheon. So, chicken will be served. Dessert will be “Tschirhart-sized” slices of pie, one of mom’s favorites. Please RSVP for lunch.
Mom was a daughter to Valentine John Tschirhart and Louise Pechette. One of eight children. She is survived by two brothers, Phillip and Gerry. She has three children, Thomas Nathan, of Rochester, Michigan; Matthew John, of Sarasota, Florida; and Angela Louise Basham-Fink, of Sarasota, Florida. She has six grandchildren, Cody, 27; Lauren, 25; Matthew Josiah, 23; Madison Louise, 18; Jackson, 13, and Jacob, 10. She also has one great-granddaughter Kennedy, 2.
