Velma B. Moore – age 84, a native of Lamar County, AL and longtime resident of Saraland passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2011. Mrs. Moore was a longtime member of Shiloh Baptist Church serving as a kindergarten teacher in the school for 20 years where she was a positive influence on the lives of many children. She loved flowers, was a longtime member of the Mobile Quilting Guild, and had a reputation as one of the finest seamstresses in the Mobile area. Mrs. Moore always made sure that visitors to her home left with flowers or food. She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Homer Moore; two sons, Lynn Moore (Gail) and Dr. Larry Moore (Janeen); brother, Bert Glasgow (Alice); sisters, Lavern Kirtley, Dean Vail (Bobby), Peggy Fulmer, and Polly Bardon; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many other relatives, and friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Friday, October 21, 2011, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 20, from 6-8 p.m. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
