His death on May 14th, 2011 left a hole in the hearts and lives of all who knew him. Michael was born on May 11th, 1984 to Maurice "Buddy" and Anna Perkins, a twin sister Brooke, and his Granny Bea. Michael was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis as an infant, but never let that stop him from living life and inspiring others. He was always on an adventure and always doing or trying new things. He loved the outdoors and took every opportunity to be as active as he could. He also loved being a Ghostbuster, riding around in his 1981 Delorean, playing his games, and of course finding all kinds of trouble to get into. He earned his black belt in two different martial arts and helped teach children at Cottage Hill Baptist Church in his spare time. He was always ready to play or use his slap-stick antics to make any and everyone laugh or blush. He was a great storyteller and entertained many with his tall tales. Michael met his wife Kellee (nee Kellee Jones Perkins) 9 years ago and they have been inseparable since. They shared a very rare mutual love and marriage that most never get to experience. A true romantic, he made his love for Kellee apparent to everyone that knew him. Just as much as he was a wonderful devoted husband, he was also a very proud and loving father to his baby girl Piper Catherine, whom he and Kellee welcomed into this world September 1st , 2010. Anyone that knew him saw passion, love, courage, faith, strength, generosity, and many other admirable traits. He was always positive and upbeat. Even knowing he was facing a life threatening illness, made his attitude all the more amazing to friends and family. Michael loved people and his pets. Everyone that knew him, has some kind of story to share about something he did. From his crazy costumes to his outrageous & bizarre sense of humor, it was not hard to burst into laughter when he was around. He was so thoughtful and encouraging, leaving notes and gifts for Kellee and Piper for the years to come. Even at his very sickest, he was positive, lived life, and strived to make sure his family was okay and happy. Michael left this world a true hero and fighter. He was one of a kind and his family is overjoyed and blessed to have had him even for this very short lifetime. He was the strongest person you could have met, and in knowing him you are a better person for it.
The family will receive friends from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Wilson Avenue Baptist Church, Saraland, AL. Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 from Wilson Avenue Baptist Church. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
