She was born in Coffeeville Al. on July 6, 1925, in a small town in Clarke County where she lived until around 1939. That same year she moved to Satsuma to live with her sister Maggie Carl. She met a young man named Clifton Pierce and was married in October of that year. In August of 1941 she became a loving mother to Patricia, better known to most as Pat. In 1945 she started working as part of the war effort with Gulf Shipyard as a keypunch operator. This would lead to working at Waterman Steamship, Merchants Bank and retiring from International Paper. After retirement her and Clifton spent a many a day in Coffeeville at their cabin fishing and enjoying life. In addition to enjoying retirement, she also went back to work but this time not receiving a paycheck. She became involved in the City of Satsuma through community projects. She was heavily involved in the creation of the Satsuma Library. In addition to that she was a charter member of the Satsuma Community Development Organization (SCDO), Chairwoman of the Satsuma Library Board, Member of the Satsuma Library Foundation Board, Member of the Prime Time Library Club where she work tirelessly for these organizations. Due to the amazing work that she did her name will always be a part of this community with having a room named after her in the Satsuma Public Library. She was also a long time member of the Satsuma Methodist Church.

Left to cherish her memory are Son in Law: Henry Neal Hicks, Grandson: John Christopher (Chris) Hicks, Granddaughter in love: Ginger Williamson Hicks, Niece that she considered a daughter: Julia Ann Deas, many great nieces and nephews and special friends, and a special caregiver/friend Shelley Schaefer.
The family would like to thank Springhill Hospice (especially Nurse Sherri and CNA Nell) for their many years of care.
Visitation will be held May 19, 2024 from 1-2 pm and services will be held at 2 pm at Radney’s Funeral home in Saraland Al. Graveside service will be at the City of Satsuma Cemetery.
