Kenneth Gele Turner

Ken is survived by his wife of 55 years Vivian Pugh Turner, his children Kendra Lee (Rusty), Stacey Phillips (Alan), Kenneth G Turner Jr (Marcy); Grandchildren Ashley Miller (Drew), Emily Bennett (Hunter), Turner Lee (Brittany), Dustin Lee (Misty), Jansen Philllips, Zack Phillips, Jacob Turner, Luke Turner and Gabe Turner. Great-Grandchildren Madelyn, Kynleigh, Kate & Skylar. Sisters Marion Murr (George) Sandy Crain (Leo) and Holly Guthrie (David). He is preceded in death by his Mother and Father Jessie Mae and Marion Gele Turner and twin grandsons John and Sean Phillips.

Ken was born October 13, 1943 in Mobile, AL. He went to Vigor High School and joined the Army in 1962. He married the love of his life Vivian on March 6, 1965. He became a fireman for the city of Prichard in 1966. He was in the first graduating class of paramedics in Mobile County. He retired as a Captain after 32 years in 1998. He also worked at several local ambulance companies, Fountain Ambulance, Newman’s Ambulance and AMR as a paramedic. In his past time, he loved working on cars, lawnmowers and tractors. Everyone knew if they needed something fixed, they could call and he would always be willing to help anyone in need. He loved to spend time with his family, fishing, singing and playing his guitar.

Ken was a faithful member of Kushla-Bethany Baptist for the past 45 years where he served as a Sunday School teach, choir member and deacon.

He was known by many names Honey, Daddy, Pawpaw, Ken, Kenny, Buddy, Captain Turner & Cap but last name he was called was Good and Faithful Servant when his Heavenly Father called him home. He will be greatly missed by his family and multitude of friends, but praise God we will see him again “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder”.

A Funeral service will be held for immediate family on Saturday, April 18, 2020 with a memorial service to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Kushla-Bethany Baptist Building Fund 6145 Hwy 45 Eight Mile, AL 36613.
