Kenneth Travis Murphey, age 68, went home to be with Jesus on September 29th in Mobile, Alabama. Affectionately known to so many as “Kenny” or “Big Murf”, he resided in Mobile, Alabama and was an active part of his community of family and friends.
Kenny was born in Mobile, Alabama to Billy T. and Lottie Mae Murphey on December 14, 1951. He attended Theodore High School then launched into his career as a professional plumber later earning his Master Plumber’s license.
Kenny is preceded in death by his parents, Billy T. and Lottie Mae Murphey and younger sister, Marsha Diane Murphey. He is survived by his beautiful wife, Rose, whom he loved with all his heart and his eight children; Skip, Lee (Jennifer), Tara (Beau), Angel, Ronnie (Missy), Donnie (Heather), Christy (Ricky), Travis (Amanda). He is also survived by 17 grandchildren that were his whole world, older sister, Rosemary (Eddy) and younger brother, Charles (Kenyan).
A memorial service will be held at Grace Independent Baptist Church, 3707 Bienville Blvd., Ocean Springs, MS 39564 on Saturday, October 17, 2020. The family will gather from 12:30 – 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. with the Memorial Service beginning at 2:00 p.m.
