Geneva Joyce Shows Middleton, 90, of Mt. Vernon, Alabama passed on January 7, 2023 in Saraland, Alabama surrounded by family. She was born on March 23, 1932, in Meridian, Mississippi, to the late Aubrey Carl and Mary Robinson Shows. Joyce retired from the United States Postal Service following twenty-six years of service as a mail carrier. She loved spending time with her family, reading, working puzzles, shopping, and traveling.
Joyce was preceded in passing by her parents; maternal grandparents: William A. and Maggie Robinson, her beloved husband; Earl Middleton, and one sister; Onieta Mayfield.
Left to cherish Joyce’s beautiful memories will be her four children: Gary Middleton, Karl Middleton, Rod Middleton (Terri Lynn), Julie Fuller (Timothy), eleven grandchildren: Mandi Richardson, Heather Middleton, Brett McDonald (Kristy), Samantha Powell, Karl Allen Middleton, Amber Preston (Austin), Cassidy Rowell (Drew), Kaitlyn Sullivan (Tyler), Summer Lynn Middleton, and Nathan Middleton; fifteen great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
Honoring Joyce as pallbearers will be Karl Allen Middleton, Jack Busby, Brett McDonald, Maddox Copeland, Austin Preston, and Drew Rowell. Honorary pallbearers are Nathan Middleton, and Caldwell Taylor.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association.
The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to Joyce’s care-givers: Rhonda Whatley and Jackie Timothy for the friendships, care and compassion at a time needed most.
A visitation for Joyce will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2023 from 1:00 PM until time of service at 2:00 PM at Radney Funeral Home, 1200 Industrial Pkwy, Saraland, AL 36571.
Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, 18890 St. Stephens Road, Mt. Vernon, Alabama 36560.
