James Lindsey Thomas, age 78, resident of Semmes, AL, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021. He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Jewelene Thomas, parents, Marston and Daphne Duffy Thomas, sons, Toby Thomas, Justin Thomas and brothers, Marston Thomas, Jr., George Thomas, Donald Thomas and Robert Thomas.
Mr. Thomas was employed as a butcher who worked over 40 years in the grocery business. He worked with Delchamps for 19 years and retired after 21 years with Food World and was a lifetime member of UFCW (United Food and Commercial Workers International Union). He was known as "easy going", someone who never met a stranger, with a "charming" personality. James enjoyed working in his yard and always had time to share with his loving grandchildren. He was a proud and loving father and grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Thomas is survived by his sons, James Anthony "Tony" Thomas (Tracy) and Brad Thomas (Ashley). He is also survived by his brother Jesse Thomas, sister, Doris Marut (Grant), grandchildren; Joshua, Sarah, Keith, Connor and Kennedy, great-grandson, Larry James Major, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home-Saraland on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Serenity Memorial Gardens, 8951 Old Pascagoula Rd., Theodore, AL 36582 beginning at 1:00 p.m.
