MSG, James Gerald Cates of Mobile, Alabama will return home on September 10, 2019. Sergeant Cates was killed in action on Sunday December 3, 1950 in Chang County, Hamgyeong Providence, North Korea, as he served his country in the Korean War. In late 1950, Cates was a member of Company I, 3rd Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was reported missing in action on Dec. 3, 1950, following combat actions against enemy forces in the vicinity of the Chosin Reservoir, North Korea.

Graveside honors will be held Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 2:30 PM. at Turnerville Cemetery, Roberts Rd, Chunchula, AL 36521.
