Hazel Trehern, 93, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Kreole, Mississippi and graduated from Moss Point High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert (Bob) Trehern on Christmas morning, 1945, in San Diego, California where he was stationed with the Navy. After the war, they moved to Kreole. On a Friday, in 1959, they moved to Chickasaw with their 3 children. The next Sunday, the family joined the Chickasaw Methodist Church.
Hazel worked as a secretary at Dauphin Way Methodist Church for several years. Previously she worked at International Paper Company in Moss Point, and returned to International Paper at the Mobile Mill for a total of 23 years.
The threads of Hazel’s life were woven lovingly and faithfully into the tapestry of the Chickasaw Methodist Church. She was a dedicated member serving in many capacities. She and Bob loved serving as MYF counselors, and worked with the youth for many years.
Faith, family and friends were their priorities. She always welcomed everyone into her home for many occasions. Her talents included sewing, ceramics, and various crafts. After retirement, they loved to travel all the national parks and enjoying cruises. A highlight was their trip to the Holy Land.
