Glenda C. Davison was born on September 17, 1946 as Glenda Carol Franks to Ella Atkins and Glenn H. Franks in Jasper, Alabama. Glenda died in her home in Ashville, Alabama on May 31, 2018 at the age of 71.
In most of her growing up years, Glenda lived in the Mobile and Semmes areas. She graduated from Semmes High School in the 1965. A few years after graduation, she married her best friend’s brother, Felix Davison. Felix had been away from home in the military and when she saw him, she said it was love at first sight. Felix passed away nearly 18 years ago and she never stopped grieving for him. Finally her grief is over as she has been reunited with him and other loved ones.
When her only son, Matthew, was just a small child, she moved to Birmingham, Alabama. Later, she and her family would settle on the outskirts of Birmingham in Odenville and live there for over 30 years. After her son was grown and her husband had passed away, she would move only about 30 miles away to the beautiful hills of Ashville where her property backs up to the scenic Neely Henry Lake.
Glenda was the rock of her family, a hard worker, excellent cook, and a gifted home decorator. She had many close friends and acquaintances. Glenda never met a stranger. She had a kind heart would go the extra mile to do for others.
If asked, Glenda would tell you that she was saved and going to heaven. She talked about praying for God’s help for herself, her family, and friends. We will never know how much those many prayers have made a difference in our lives. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Let us focus on this important Bible verse:
“While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” II Corinthians 4:18.
Glenda is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Felix Davison; her nephew, Jeremy Franks; and her father, Glenn Franks. Her mother, Ella Franks, passed away less than twelve hours after her own death. Glenda was probably in heaven saying “mother come on, it’s time.”
Glenda leaves behind her son, Matthew Davison and her granddaughter Harleigh Davison (Zachery) Matthews; brothers, Terry (Sandra) Franks and Marty (Bessie) Franks; sister, Donna Franks (Ronnie) Howell; and other family members.
Glenda will have a double wake and funeral with her mother, Ella B. Franks at Radney Funeral Home, 1200 Industrial Parkway, Saraland, Alabama 36571 on Wednesday, June 6. The wake is from 9:00 – 11:00 and the funeral will take place at 11:00. A short graveside service will be held afterwards at 2:30 p.m. at Camellia Missionary Baptist Church, 10661 Moffett Road, Semmes, Alabama 36575. Lunch will be served for the family and close friends at 1:00 at Camellia Church.
