Dickie is proceeded in death by his mother and father, Helen and Grant Parten, his sister Helen Rose Moore, a grandson Casey Norman, a son in law Marvin “Skooter” Adams, and a great granddaughter Penelope Claxton. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Syble Gatlin Parten. They had 4 children together Vicky Parten Highland, William “Bubba” Parten, Angela Adams, and Jeffrey Parten. His three siblings Marion Parten, William “Brother’ Parten, and Harold “Harry” Parten. Dickie was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Dickie was an active member of Redemption Church where he served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. Dickie had a heart for missions that led him to Maine, Mexico, and Oklahoma just to name a few. He also served as an RA basketball, baseball, and softball coach. Dickie loved sports and never missed an Alabama football or a Kentucky basketball game.
Dickie’s greatest love was the love for his wife Syble. They spent many years traveling all over the world together but their favorite spot will always be The Great Smoky Mountains. He was a wonderful man. His spirit will live in many hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Serving as pallbearers will be; William Simmons, Nathan Adams, Daniel Adams, Dexter Parten, Kendall Norman, Mark Gatlin and Palmer Gatlin.
