Carol Dean Watford Moffett, 76, passed away June 1, 2021, after a brief illness. She is survived by her husband, Lynwood Moffett; children, Phillip (Debi) Waltman and Deana (Max) Breckenridge; grandchildren, Sarah (Tre’) Brooks, Shannon Rester, and Max Campbell, Laura, and Anna Louise Breckenridge; great-grandson, Brycen Brooks; brothers, Gene (Lucy) Watford and Dwight Watford; sister, Karen Hamilton; uncle, Rev. Earl (Esther) Bodiford; cousins; and nephews and nieces, whom she loved like children. Carol was predeceased by her parents and beloved grandmother Ethel Laura Bodiford.
Carol had a beautiful soprano voice, which she shared throughout her lifetime. Among the many interests Carol had during the seasons of her life were growing roses; teaching church youth; dancing and Mardi Gras balls; being Louie the Lightening Bug mascot for Alabama Power; beach vacations with family; extensive traveling with friends; and genealogy. Carol’s perennial loves were books, music, her family, and the Lord.
Although Carol’s death is a tragic loss, the family’s wish is that her funeral be a celebration of life and going away party. Carol made her friends promise that she would be buried with a pair of high heeled shoes, as her complaint with getting older was that she could no longer wear them. Carol’s wish will be honored, and the family would like to take it a step further by asking those dear to her to wear their favorite shoes on Monday in tribute to her, whether in attendance at the funeral or not.
The celebration of Carol’s life will be Monday, June 7, 2021, at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by a chapel service at 11:00, and a graveside service at Serenity Gardens, with Rev. Larry Bruner, Sr. officiating. Honoring Carol as pallbearers are Jim Crocker, Tre’ Brooks, Tommy Cicco, Joe Falconi, and nephews Chris Watford and Blake Hamilton. Chris Norman will honor her with music and song.
The family wishes to thank Carol’s church, New Life Traditional Baptist Church, and the nurses in the intensive care unit at Providence Hospital for their support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Life Traditional Baptist Church in Semmes, Alabama.
