On June 12, 2020 at 4:34 a.m. we lost our matriarch Beatrice D. Jimmerson. Beatrice Dearmon Jimmerson, also know as Bea, was born on March 19, 1936, in Millry, Alabama. She grew up in a large family that had to work hard for everything they had. Picking cotton for 2 cents a pound was one of her first jobs. She moved to Chickasaw her senior year and proudly graduated from Vigor High School in 1954. On January 28, 1955, she married Samuel H. Jimmerson (Sam). Over the next almost 40 years, they worked to build their successful business, B&S Builders and Real Estate. While working with Sam, she also was a managing broker for Roberts Brothers, becoming one of the first women to belong to the Million Dollar Club. During this time, she also served as an officer in the BPW (Business and Professional Womens’) Club in Saraland, Alabama. In her retirement years, she enjoyed crafting, cooking, traveling, and had a passion for board games. She loved her life on the Tensaw River! This included fishing, boating, and hosting many families and friends. After Sam’s death, she built a second home in Pikeville, Tennessee. There she developed many new friendships that lasted her lifetime.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Annie Mae Singleton Dearmon and 6 siblings: Otis Dearmon, Audis Dearmon, Opal Dearmon Touchstone, Wille E. Stacey, Henry P. Stacey and D.C. Dearmon. Her remaining 3 siblings are Warren C. Dearmon, Dean Dearmon Sparks, and Jerrie Dearmon Tello.
Her greatest joy in her life was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and everyone she encountered knew it! She had 3 children – Sylvia J. McCoy (Julian), Samuel L. Jimmerson (deceased), and Angie D. Jimmerson (Doug Strassner) and 6 grandchildren – Heather M. Byrd (Justin), Luke B. McCoy, Amy M. Barnette (John), Katey M. Dinges (Devon), Matthew S. Mabry (Madison) and Will J. Jimmerson. Her 5 great grandchildren helped keep her going, as she battled numerous health problems later in her life – Emma, Harrison, Samuel, Daniel and Lily.
Bea’s strong faith in God and generous spirit touched many people throughout her life. She gave so much of herself to those around her. She will leave a legacy of faith, love, and generosity behind. We will miss her tremendously, but we know she is walking streets of gold and enjoying her family that had gone on before.
