Francisco Paz

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Great Great Grandfather Francisco Paz aka Papa Pancho. Francisco passed away peacefully at his home in the early hours of Oct 2, 2024 at the age of 106.

Francisco was born on November 30, 1917 in Tlazazalca Michoacan, Mexico to Justo Paz and Juana Madrigal. In 1942 he met and married his first wife Virginia Garcia Melgoza but unfortunately this union was short lived as she passed away giving birth to their son Hector. Soon after, he met a lovely young lady by the name of Esther Mendez Espinoza who he soon married. This union was blessed with 8 children, Jorge, Esther, Fernando, Javier, Rosa, Victor, Leticia and Gloria.

Francisco first came into the states through the Bracero Program at age 17 and continued working throughout the West Coast states for several years until he finally settled in Limoneira Ranch in Santa Paula California in 1963. He started his employment with Limoneira that same year for 16 years until his retirement in 1979 at the age of 62. He continued to live another 44 wonderful years after his retirement to enjoy with family and friends. Francisco loved his evening walks, gardening and looked forward to Saturday breakfast with family at his favorite restaurants. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather for many years. He always cared deeply for the people around him and always looked forward to visits from family especially his grandkids. He had an amazing memory and would often tell stories of when he was a kid growing up in Mexico. To his last day his memory was astonishing. Francisco made a big impact on many people’s lives, he will always be loved and will be missed dearly. Until we meet again “Abuelito” aka “Papa Pancho”.

Francisco is predeceased by his parents Justo and Juana, his first wife Virginia, second wife Esther and first son Hector, he is survived by his children Jorge, Esther, Fernando, Javier, Rosa, Victor, Leticia and Gloria, 23 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.

Services: Our Lady of Guadalupe Church 427 N Oak St Santa Paula Rosary Oct 14, 2024 at 9:30am followed by mass at 10am, funeral services followed there after at Pierce Brothers Cemetery in Santa Paula
