Last evening, with a group of Steven friends, we were reminded of how Steven would tell one of us to keep moving ahead, that life changes. And we are all so grateful for Steven in our lives. And then the memorial message arrived today.

I am so sad to hear of your passing. You were a wonderful, passionate steward of your father's work and treated a fervant collector and fan with grace and patience. Thank you.

The studio that Steven created to honor the legacy of his Father moved me to tears whenever I was there... The elegance, the DIGNITY, the honor and respect reflected as much about Steven as it did about Robert. It also profoundly reflects Joey, because her nurturing, cheering, guidance and fostering of Steven's goal... made the journey even more rewarding for Steven. TRUE JOY.

Steven’s compassion & creativity is what united us originally as kids at Oakwood school. We shared an old soul magical spark from the moment we met, a flame that will never go dark.
We also shared our birthday : MAY 2 . I have countless memories of adventures with him that I will forever cherish. He was truly magnificent.

Steven, it’s been hard to catch my breath since I heard the news. I have adored you from the moment I met you 26 years ago. And your kindness, patience, and generous heart had a substantial impact on my life & you helped get me through some very dark days. Thank you 🙏🏼  

And man, you had the BEST laugh. I’ve been hearing it in my head all week. It never fails to make me smile. 

The last time I saw you was your 25th birthday dinner. At the end of dinner you gave me a 25 year chip and let me know that I was part of the crew too. That chip means the world to me.

I’ve going through our old messages & I’m amazed by how often you said you loved me & how thankful you were that I was still in your life after all these years. You even mentioned how fleeting life was— you lived in the moment & wore your heart on your sleeve. You taught me to do the same. And I’m so glad that you did.

Enjoyed your presence at dinners, meetings and private conversations. Thank you for helping me get off cigarettes too.

Dear Steven,

You have been gone for 1 week and I miss you terribly. 💔
I am so glad that I walked into your dads studio in 2002 because my life was forever changed.  
Our friendship has brought me such joy, happiness and wonderful memories. Lunches at Hals, SO many artful days and nights.  All of the events that I was so lucky 🍀 to be your plus one at, countless galas and dinners.

The special events that you have shared over the years with my family, Fred, Nicole, Jacob and I will all miss you. My heart truly has a hole in it.
