Barbara was born December 22, 1915 to Robert Collyer Combes and Lillian McLaughlin Combes. Barbara was a popular student at George Washington High School when she fell in love with all the school plays. She moved to New York after one year of college to pursue acting and modeling.
She was under contract to MGM in 1945 and became a household name with the launch of "Leave It To Beaver".
She married Glenn Billingsley (1940-1946), a successful restauranteur. His great-uncle Sherman Billingsley, was founder of New York's fashionable 1940's era nightclub The Stork Club.
Her second husband, Roy Kellino, died after a few years of marriage of a heart attack.
After Kellino's death, she was married to Dr. William Mortensen for 23 years until his death in 1981.
Two of her favorite things were book clubs and children's charities. She belonged to Footlighters and Pepperdine Center for the Arts, both children's charities. She loved to donate to Wounded Warriors.
She is survived by two sons, Drew and Glenn Billingsley; one stepson William Mortensen; 16 granchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
She was an amazing lady, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be missed by all.
