Paul was the best gift-giver!! He was so generous and thoughtful and would act like his amazing gift was no big deal. Even if it wasn’t a big deal to him, we felt very spoiled and special. We miss the days of being your next door neighbors and to this day have never had neighbors anywhere near as awesome as you guys. We love you guys and our hearts and prayers are with you all💛

Last i chatted with Paul  ,  he expressed how proud he was of his 3 boys. He talked about each of them, starting with the son who is in Chef school, a son who just completed FTO , and a son who who is in school in Hawaii. I could  tell that his life and love was all about his boys. May he rest in peace with our Lord. 

I miss you my dear friend!!! Never a dull moment when he was around… he ALWAYS made us laugh!!!! Forever in our hearts 

Paul and I worked on my last patrol team together DM for Sgt Foster. He had a quirky sense of humor and was always making me laugh. 

Paul and my paths crossed in junior high and high school but we didn't become friends until we found ourselves in the same class at SJSU. We were two recent high school grads seeking comfort in our new big city university environment --  He was a film major who knew he was going to become a police officer. Police departments want people who can spell, he said. I majored in journalism with an emphasis in broadcasting.

Both of us were commuter students -- living at home with our parents while driving in to take our full load of classes. I think the best college memories I have are of us walking over to Ben & Jerry's for ice cream. I was easy. Anything chocolate. But when Paul ordered, I was always in stitches. He would clear his throat, and politely ask, "May I have the Chunky Monkey?"  Such a big kid, he was. How do you ask for that with a straight face? Two scoops in a cone, for that matter. Lol

He was like a big brother, checking in to see if I had met THE ONE yet, so I could settle down and have kids of my own. (Nope)

I enjoyed our chats. For a time, he tried to lure me away from the news business to be a police officer -- the department was trying to increase diversity and I was a two-fer, he said, black and female. (Nope) 

Our check-ins slowed on my end after I adopted my cousins, making me a single mom. I wish I reached out to him more about raising boys.

I will miss our silly chats, his stories, his advice and insights.
