April 20, 1947 – January 13, 2013
Jim was the loving husband to Jeannette and father of Wendie. He was the proud grandpapa of granddaughters Maddison and Mikayla, who were the apple of his eye. Jim was the son of the late Joseph M. and Genevieve M. Vieira, the brother of the late Ronald Vieira. He was a loving nephew to Fred and Dorothy Vierra, the (late) John H. Luth and Dorothy June (Vierra) Luth, Carl and the late Agnes (Vierra) Harlow and the late John and Tony Vieira. He was an uncle to many nieces and nephews and a great uncle of two nephews, brother-in-law to Fred and Barbara Brown and to Steve and Jan Alfinito, and a wonderful cousin to many. He was a great friend and teacher to all. Jim was a graduate of Santa Clara High School and was an Air Force veteran and served during the Vietnam conflict.
Jim worked in the electronics and semiconductor industry as a Quality Assurance Engineer supporting several companies in the Silicon Valley area.
Jim lived in Santa Clara all of his life. He enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing, hunting and an occasional early morning trip to the casinos. He liked spending time at home, barbecuing and joking with family and friends. He also enjoyed working on cars and boats and remodeling his home for the many holidays and parties that he hosted. But mostly, he loved playing with his granddaughters, including attending their many tea parties.
His greatest achievements were being married to Jeannette for 45 years, his wonderful daughter and two granddaughters, and being there for family and friends who needed him.
Wendie describes her dad as loving, honest, and generous of his time. Most of all he was an “educator”, not in the formal sense, but in life experiences. “Dad was the inspiration of my career choice of becoming a nurse. Out of necessity, dad taught me how to wrap wounds, and give shots. He also taught me to change the oil in my car, and fix a flat tire.” In loving memory of my dad and friend.
We love you grandpapa! Maddison and Mikayla
Memorial celebration of Jim's life will be held Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary.
