David Del Real Sr., resident of San Jose, passed away on October 9th, 2021. He was born March 3rd, 1948 in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, the oldest of ten children. At the young age of 10, he immigrated to this country searching for freedom and opportunity. Immediately after graduating from Santa Clara High School, he found his calling by joining the Marine Corps. He served in Vietnam and was a proud member of the 2nd Battalion 9th Marines. David was promoted to Sergeant and was also selected to protect President Nixon during his visit to Moffett Field. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, and others. After serving in the Marine Corps, he continued his service as a Deputy Sheriff for Santa Clara County and eventually retiring.
David was an avid sports fan and could talk to you for hours about any and all sports. He absolutely loved to support his grandchildren in anything they were involved in; sports, dance, music, and school performances. He always went to great lengths to show his love and support for his family, often driving any distance and spending entire days at events for his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his mother Bertha, and his brother Gonzalo. He is survived by his children David Jr. (Jennifer) and Maria-Elena; his grandchildren Dylan, Sophia, and Ava. His siblings Marisela, Maria, Luis, Irma, Herminio, Jackie, Nellie, and Jesse; and other numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 22nd, at 5pm followed by a Rosary at 7pm at Lima Family, 466 N Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara.
Committal Service and Final Salute with full Military Honors will be held Friday, November 12th at 11am at Sacramento Valley National Cemetary, 5810 Midway Rd., Dixon, CA 95620
