It is with great sadness that our dear mom, grandmother and great grandmother, Ann Estrella, passed away peacefully on April 16th, 2020. Our family is comforted knowing that God called her to join him in heaven, only a month after her beloved son, Joseph Estrella, Jr., had joined him as well. We are all at peace that the two of them are together, happy and pain free…angels looking down upon us.
Ann was a lifetime resident of the San Jose/Campbell area, graduating from Campbell High School in 1955. Daughter to Joseph and Rose Taormina of Campbell and little brother Joey. Happily married to and survived by husband Joseph Estrella, Jr. since 1955…Mother to Joe Jr. Estrella (Nancy Frey), Rosemary Vaughn (Tim Vaughn) and JoAnn Estrella-Boyd (Brian Boyd). Grandmother to Shannon Ficke, Jasmine Vaughn-Hawthorne, Jillianne Estrella, Skylar Vaughn, Jordan, Brandon, and Christian Boyd…Great Grandmother to Gabriel Galindo, Angeneva and Emmaleah Hawthorne.
Ann was belovedly known to many as the “Poodle Lady”, breeding and grooming poodles for over 30 years in the Bay Area. She took great pride in placing her beautiful poodles, especially her unique apricot puppies, with loving families…many of her customers remaining dear friends for years later.
Joe and Ann spent many years making memories at their dream home with family and newfound friends in South Lake Tahoe. Ann thoroughly enjoyed a good slot machine and a game of Keno…1 and 10 her lucky numbers!!
Ann’s other interests included spending time shopping at Valley Fair Mall, collecting fine jewelry (Macy’s favorite customer), eating “delicious” food…Black Angus prime rib her favorite, and simple chatting it up with friends and neighbors.
As a family, we feel blessed that even as our mom spent the last years of her life with Alzheimer’s and Dementia, she remained her kind sweet self so many adored. All that connected with her, even after diagnosis, still felt and were affected by her “Sparkle”. Thank you, mom, for giving us all so many great memories of you to cherish and hold dearly long after you are gone…We love and will miss you!!
Please consider donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Ann Estrella…
