Robert Franklin Monroe passed away peacefully on Friday January 17th 2020 at 93 years of age. He was born in Garden Grove California and was the only son of Frank and Enola Monroe. Bob, as he was sometimes called, attended Garden Grove High School. In 1944, after high school, he went into the Navy. Following the war, Bob attended Fullerton College then transferred to USC and graduated with a business degree.
He met his wife, Wanda Parsons, on a blind date. They were married in 1949 and moved to Long Beach. They had two children before moving to Fullerton in 1959. They had two more children. In 1951, Bob worked for US Steel in Los Angeles then Cal Metal and Republic Supply before retiring in 1993.
His hobbies included camping, playing tennis, travel, golfing, fishing, and playing cards with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Wanda Monroe. He is survived in death by his four children Gary Monroe, Mark Monroe, Jim Monroe, Holly (Monroe) Elllens, 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Thursday February 13th at 2pm at the Evangelical Free Church in Fullerton.
