Princess Victor was born on December 13th, 1927 to D. Devairakkam and Kalyani Devairakkam in Madras, India. She was the only daughter and had three younger brothers whom she loved dearly. While she was in the Honors Program for Mathematics at Presidency College, Madras with hopes for a career in Engineering, she married Mr. M. A. Victor at age 22 on December 29, 1949.
She had six children, four girls and two boys. Early in her marriage she claimed the promise ‘All thy children shall be taught of the Lord and great shall be the peace of thy children’. Isaiah 54:13. She lived to see each of her children come to know the Lord in a personal way and serve him.
She labored fervently and prayerfully with her husband in reaching the lost, by taking the Gospel with the help of local Indian evangelists to cities, towns, and remote villages. She never hesitated to share the Gospel with anyone, be it a neighbor or a stranger. She even shared the Gospel to a machete wielding burglar who broke into her home in the middle of the night.
Following the death of her husband after 47 years of marriage, she cared for her widowed mother alone for over three years. She loved to study the Bible, was an avid reader and had read most of the English classics at a very young age. She read the Wall Street Journal every day and took notes in her diary. She had a beautiful soprano voice and loved singing hymns and choruses. She was talented and played the piano and the harmonium.
She will be missed on this earth, but we are happy that she is rejoicing in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
