Maria (Terry) Teresa Arevalo was born on April 15, 1946, she went home to Heaven on June 15, 2024. Her family moved from El Paso, Texas to California in 1960. Maria resided in Orange County for 61 years, retiring as a legal secretary for Orange County Council. She simultaneously worked in the evenings at JoAnn Fabrics for 36 years because of her love of sewing.
Terry is survived by her brothers and their families; Gabriel, Manuel, Paul and Samuel, and her grown children; sons Rene, Daniel, Alex and her daughter Andrea and their families including 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Known to her family as Mom, Grandma Terry (aka gt), Great-Grandma, Sis, Aunt Terry, and Comadre (to her best friend). Time with family and helping when needed kept her busy and brought her much joy. She loved her family dearly. Her life will be celebrated but missed tremendously.
Terry loved the Lord with all of her heart, soul and mind. She attended Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa where she enjoyed the fellowship of (her) Pastor Chuck Smith and his family, as well as other believers serving the Lord. She looked forward to the Harvest Crusades at Angel Stadium year after year where she joyfully served as an usher.
Terry had the gift of service and gave generously of her time, talents and resources to her community. She participated in the Orange Plaza Patriots every Wednesday at the Circle of Orange. Supporting military members and their families and raising the flag of the country she loved. She sewed hundreds of military blankets to honor and thank those serving and those who have served her country. She was a faithful donor of the American Red Cross for years in an effort to help save anonymous lives she would never meet.
Terry trusted God’s unfailing Word. She would want this blessing extended to all. Her favorite scripture:
“The Lord bless you, and keep you:
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
and be gracious unto you:
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
and give you peace.”
Numbers 6:24
