

L G Vigie, a resident of Huntington Beach, California, passed away on April 18, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on December 4, 1932, in Palmetto, Louisiana, L G was known for being hard-working, honest, humorous, generous, kind-hearted, thoughtful, and selfless.
L G attended Palmetto High School and, upon graduating, joined the Navy in June 1952, serving until June 1956. During his military career, he received several decorations, including the National Defense, United Nations, China Service, Good Conduct, and KPUC medals. He cherished his time aboard the USS Manatee, his favorite ship. After his military service, L G pursued a long and fulfilling career as a truck driver with the California Cartage Company for 40 years, a profession he loved deeply.
On December 3, 1955, L G married Kathleen Stockwell. They shared 53 wonderful years together until Kathleen's passing in 2008. L G was the proud father of four children: Karen, Jimmy, Sandra, and Janet. His legacy continues through his grandchildren Frank, Ashley, Matthew, Megan, and Christopher, as well as his great-grandchildren Kayla, Josie, and Ronan. He is survived by one sister, Rita Meyers, and was predeceased by his siblings Versie, Talbert, Mabel, Buelah, Hazel, Essie, Annie-Mae, and Amid.
L G had a passion for swap meets and was a dedicated cast iron dealer. In his younger years, he enjoyed camping, fishing, and dancing, especially jitterbugging with his wife. He was an avid fan of country music, with a particular fondness for Celtic Thunder.
Known for his frequent sayings, "it is what it is" and "everybody has their own thing," L G was a model of strong work ethic and honesty. He was a magnet for conversation, offering a neutral, supportive, and non-judgmental presence to those around him. He expressed deep gratitude to his daughters, Karen and Janet, for their care and support, thanking them nightly.
Visitation will be held at Fairhaven Memorial Park Mortuary in the Legacy Chapel, located at 1702 Fairhaven Avenue, Santa Ana, CA, on April 30, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The funeral service will take place at the same location on May 1, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a graveside service at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA, from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm.
L G's family fondly remembers him with the words, "We love you dad and hope you are enjoying your reunion with mom."
