Joyce Williams, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 23, 2024, in Newport Beach, California. She was born on January 30, 1931, in Askins, Kentucky. Growing up in a small town, she was always the first in her class. She moved to California in 1958 and never looked back. Joyce lived a life full of faith, love and family.
She is survived by her brother, Louie Adkins of Orange, California; Sister-in-law, Beverly Adkins of Vero Beach, Florida; her daughter, Debra Clemens, of Vero Beach, Florida; her two sons, Mark Williams of Costa Mesa, California, and Phillip Williams of Fawnskin, California; her grandson, Mark Clemens and his wife Anne of Houston, Texas and many nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Carey and Bertrum Adkins; her brothers, Tommy, J.T. and Paul Adkins; and her son Chris Williams.
Joyce dedicated many years of her professional life as a manager to AT&T Telephone Company. After a 25 year career with AT&T, she retired, but continued to work at a tax preparation firm. The flexible hours enabled her to do what she loved most – spending time with her grandson. Joyce also enjoyed, writing, traveling, gardening, reading a book from her extensive collection and watching the waves at the beach. She was an amazing cook. Her family would tell you that her Southern Fried Chicken was the best in the world. She was an active and devoted member of Shepard’s Grove Presbyterian Church in Irvine, California. Joyce will be remembered for her intelligence, independent spirit, unwavering faith and deep commitment to her family and friends. Her legacy of strength, love of family and devotion to the Lord, will continue to inspire those who knew her. She will be missed.
Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 12:30pm, on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Fairhaven Memorial Park Mortuary in Santa Ana, California. A service officiated by Pastor William Reid, will follow at 1:00pm.
