Jose L Santana was born on December 2, 1927, in Santurce, Puerto Rico, to Isabelino Santana and Polonia Lopez de Santana. He received his elementary, high school education, and graduated from the University of Puerto Rico in 1964. He married Rosa Bonilla de Santana on January 20, 1952, in Etchojoa, Mexico. For most of his life he worked in the ministry, pastoring churches under the Church of God organization, in Puerto Rico and Argentina, and supporting missions in southern California. For twenty-five years, he also worked for Mead Paper Products in Garden Grove, CA,
He is survived by, his wife Rosa B. Santana, and his children Rosa Lydia, Deborah, Ruben, Gamaliel, Eunice, and Rebeca, 13 grandchildren,11 great grandchildren, and by his sister Juana Santana de Melendez. He was preceded in death by his son, Jose L Santana, Jr.
