Gerald “Jerry” Thomas Liljenquist Hogan, the son of Matilda “Tilly” Anderegg, and Willis Allen Liljenquist was born on March 23rd, 1929 in Rexburg, Idaho. At four years old, Jerry was adopted by his step father, Rand Hogan, who moved the family to eventually reside in Oakland, California. This is where Jerry spent his childhood years. He attended Castlemont High school and graduated in 1946. He went on to attend the University of California, at Berkeley for 3 years, then enlisted into the Army National Guard where he remained from 1948 until 1955, ending his military career as a Master Sargent in Field Artillery.
Jerry met Lois Stolte, when he was 16yrs old, in Oakland, California. From the moment he laid eyes on her, he knew she would be the love of his life. They dated for the next five years until they married in 1950. The couple started their family of five children and they eventually moved to Southern California. They were blessed to spend the next 55 years happily married until Mrs. Hogan passed in 2005, yet Jerry remained always in love until his last breath.
Over the years, Jerry became very successful working in the Glass industry, owning his own company for 12 years, and partnering with different organizations for an additional 30 years. Jerry’s outgoing personality also led him to branch out in the real-estate business, never skipping a beat when it came to learning or doing something new and creative.
Jerry is survived by his 5 children, 12 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. His children are David Hogan, Larry Hogan, James Hogan, Kathleen Sakaske and Sandra Nachtweih. His grandchildren are Micah, Elaine, Chris, Matthew, Jared, Kayla, Steven, Wendy, Alexandra, Daniel, Kimberly, and Becca. Lastly, his 4 great grandchildren are Jude, Lucas and Jazlyn and his soon to be great granddaughter Vivian, due in October.
