away on Sunday, August 15, 2023, from complications related to a stroke. He was a
wonderful husband, father and friend who was always willing to listen. Chris will be
remembered for his smile, dry sense of humor, and sound advice. He made sure to end
phone calls by telling his family he loved them just to make sure they knew how
important they were to him.
Chris was born in Central, Louisiana to Catherine “Cassie” Walsh Hansen and Chris P.
Hansen, Sr. Growing up in Baton Rouge, he had a close relationship with his younger
brother Jerry, and the two shared many adventures. After Graduation from Catholic High
in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Chris enlisted in the Air Force and served 4 years during the
Korean War as a Medical Lab and X-ray Technician. Soon after being discharged from
the service, he met his wife Jeanette Griffin Hansen on a blind date to a LSU Football
game. They married in 1955 while he was attending LSU. Chris graduated in 1957 with
a BS in Chemistry and History. While working full time, he earned an Executive
Management degree from UCLA in 1987. Chris spent 31 years with Beckman
Instruments, as a National Sales Manager and Strategic Planning Manager before retiring.
After a conversation with his Dad in 1989, he became interested in his family's
genealogy. Chris began teaching Beginning Genealogy Computer Classes at the
Huntington Beach Library in 1999 and later taught two semesters at California State
University, Long Beach. He was always interested in computer software, phones, and
gadgets. Chris was also an avid reader with interest especially in WWII Air Force, and
the wild west. His interest kept his mind sharp, and his wife Jeanette says she married
him because he was so smart.
Chris is preceded in death by his father, Chris Sr., his mother, Cassie, and his brother
Gerald “Jerry” (Lorraine). Chris is survived by his wife Jeanette and their two children,
Keith and Gwen (David).
Private interment will be held at Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Ana, California.
The family request that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Chris’ memory to his
favorite charity, Catholic High scholarship fund, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
