Our mom’s calendar was filled with people to see and things to do on Sunday, January 29th. However, God had other plans and she instead woke up in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior. Carol was a healthy, vibrant 86 year old role model. We find comfort in knowing that 13 years after the love of her life passed away, she is now at peace and reunited with our father, Jerry Holte.
Carol was born in San Francisco, California. She met Jerry at Alhambra High School in an A Cappella choir and they continued to sing in many choirs throughout their adult lives. They were married in 1955 on Jerry’s 18th birthday and had four children by the time they were 25. They shared the core values of loving Jesus and loving people. Orange Floor Covering was the business they launched and grew for 30 years together.
Their love for reading books made them eager to explore other cultures. Their travels took them to destinations on all continents along with exploring the amazing USA . It was the people of these cultures that captivated Carol. We are so thankful for all the friends she shared life with along the way, and for their ability to bless her with their interest in hearing about us and how much she loved her family.
We are grateful to ALL her friends from CBS, Bite Size Group, Book Clubs, International Students of Cal State Fullerton, Rotary International, Fullerton Free Church, Trinity Presbyterian Church, Formation, Morningside and the Caleb Connection in Norway, Sweden, and Finland.
Carol is survived by her 4 Children, Denise Bennett (Dennis), Andrea Holte, ReneeCahill (Paul), Doug Holte (Lisa) and her sister Sheryl Brooks. She will be sorely missed by her 9 grandchildren: Sara, Kyle and Eric Cahill, Nick Hymer, Savannah, Caroline and Frances Holte, Aaron and Sean Bennett. Her Granddaughter, Elisa Herkner, was already in heaven awaiting her arrival. She was also a blessing to 18 Great Grandchildren: Adam, Kaelyn, Madelyn and Carolyn Herkner, Haley, Kyra, Jordan, Brayden and Kolbie Bennett, Bryson and Colton Quinn, Hazel, Olive and Jameson Cahill, little Noah Hymer, arriving this month AND 3 Great-Great Grandchildren, Camilla and Landon Herkner, and Evelyn Roiballove.
The greatest desire of our mom’s heart was to be reunited with all of us in Heaven. As her favorite Evangelist, Billy Graham said: “My home is in Heaven - I’m just traveling through this place”. We will be celebrating her life on Saturday, February 18th at 2pm at Trinity United Presbyterian Church - 13922 Prospect Avenue, Santa Ana, CA. Please Join Us!
