He was born on February 21, 1943, in the village of Bergholz, Ohio, a son of the late Howard and Opal Paisley Peterson.
In 1961, he graduated from Timken High School in Canton Ohio where he played football. After high school, he served for eight years with the Army National Guard Reserves. He retired from being a maintenance supervisor, with most of his career at J.A. Conley Company. Roger was a local at the Eagles and Elks clubs for many years and an avid golfer. After his beloved wife, Luanne, passed he moved to central Florida and received care for Alzheimer’s disease.
He leaves behind a son Troy Peterson and his wife Dawn, of Lake Mary, Florida and a daughter Donyale Peterson Getz and her husband Ty, of Chattanooga, Tennessee; a brother, Jim Peterson and his wife Carol, of Louisville, Ohio; a grandson, Blake Thatch; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Peterson.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Luanne Peterson; a sister Evelyn Dreher and a brother Charles “Bill” Peterson.
Roger’s request for Cremation has been honored at Baldwin Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel. A Private Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Alzheimer’s Association: www.alz.org, as a tribute to Roger’s life and to help find a cure.
