John “Jackie” Meyer, of Sanford Florida, passed away on September 7, 2023 at the age of 78.
His battle with serious medical conditions over the past year never deterred him from facing
life’s challenges with a smile. His continued desire to make people laugh shined through until
the end.
John was born in Denver Colorado on May 23, 1945, the youngest of four children born to
Helena and William Meyer. After High School, John served his country in Vietnam as a member
of the Army.
Following his military service, John worked a variety of jobs before joining the US postal
service. After 30 years as a letter carrier with the Broomfield, Colorado Post Office, John retired
and spent two years traveling the country with his wife, Jennifer in their RV. In 2006, He made
the move to Florida where he started another career as a Bus driver at Walt Disney World.
Among his many hobbies, John enjoyed professional roller skating, fly fishing, wood working,
cruising, going off-road in Colorado and making people laugh. As a member of First Baptist
Orlando, he was a tenor in the choir and participated in the annual Singing Christmas Trees. As
the saying goes, John never met a stranger. It is his personality and kid like sense of humor that
will be missed by all that knew him.
John was preceded in death by his wife Jennifer, son Tim, sister Barbara, brother Carl, mother
Helena and father William. He is survived by his daughter, Tonia and her husband Matthew, and
six grandchildren, Jayden, Jaryd, Jake, Emily, Coyle, and James, as well as his brother Bobby.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate his joy filled life on October 7, 2023 at First Baptist
Church of Orlando at 10 A.M. Please come and share in this Celebration of life, as we
remember an amazing man.
