Emory Thomas Attaway "Tom", age 75, passed away at his Sanford home on January 31, 2015. This was following lung surgery on January 12, 2015. Tom and his wife, Darlene Stockard Attaway, have been married for more than 51 years. They have been proud to call Sanford their home for the last 45 years. Tom is survived by his wife Darlene and three of their four children, eight grandchildren and eight great grand children. He is also survived by his sister Jewel Oswald. Tom was known as a kind and loyal man who was totally devoted to his wife and family. He loved babies, children and animals. Tom's passion for animals lead him to spend his time and resources rescuing, spay and neutering, and caring for stray and abandon cats. He has helped these animals tirelessly for more than 15 years. Tom was also a longtime Magic basketball fan and an avid Gator football fan. Tom had a longtime career with McKee foods as a local Little Debbie snack cake distributor. Tom was well known for his friendly smile and strong work ethic. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and community. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for any donations to be made to the Spay-N-Save Animal Clinic (988 N. Ronald Reagan Blvd, Longwood, FL 32750) or for any donation of gift cards to any local pet store to go to Darlene so that she may carry on Tom's legacy and love towards animals. *Donation gift cards can be brought to the service or sent to the funeral home which will then be forwarded on to the family.
