Bobby W. Jackson, 85, of Lake Mary, FL passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born on November 18, 1936 in Andalusia, Alabama, the son of Quill F. and Tammie (Owens) Jackson. He was the youngest of 10 siblings and was predeceased by his parents, six brothers and two sisters.
After graduating from Baker High School in Baker, FL in 1954, he joined the United States Navy and a year later married Marjorie Medley. While in the Navy he served aboard the USS Shangri-La, and the USS Roosevelt. His career would take him to NAS Miami, NAS Jacksonville, NAS Barbers Point, Oahu, Hawaii, NAS Sanford, and NAS Glynco, Brunswick, Georgia, and back to Florida where he would retire from active duty in 1974.
After retiring from the Navy he opened an Auto Mechanics Business until he went to work for Northrop Aircraft Corporation overseas in Saudi Arabia. In 1980, while living in Saudi, he met Marti Miller. They were married in 1981 and Marti moved to Lake Mary to be with Bobby. When his work with Northrop concluded he opened an Auto Mechanic Shop and Used Car lot.
Bobby and Marti both shared a love for dancing and golf and Bobby would teach Marti how to bowl. At least once a week they could be found at the Airport Lanes in Sanford, FL where they bowled together in a couple’s league. Marti was a travel manager, and until her death from cancer in 2000, they enjoyed traveling the world together.
In 2010 Bobby reconnected with Loretta Harvey and they were soon married. They shared many happy times until her passing in 2014.
Bobby is survived by his three daughters, Teresa Kumm (Gerald), Lisa Spillman, and Laura Nagel (Dave); his four grandchildren, Chris Cobb, Robbie Spillman (Maren), Danielle Girardeau, and Brittany Biddle (Steve); and his six great-grandchildren, Madison, Jackson, Willah, Wrenly, Peyton, and Jace; as well as his brother, Carlis Jackson (Foye), and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
