Michael Alan Brochstein, 67, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, February 8, 2024. Michael had a great sense of humor with a sharp wit. In addition to being intelligent and kind, he was a loving husband and father, and a loyal friend.
Michael was the son of David and Barbara Brochstein. Born in Houston, Texas and raised in Atlanta, he attended Northside High School. He went on to graduate with distinction from The University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia and cum laude from The University of Georgia School of Law in Athens, Georgia. Michael was recognized as a well-respected residential and commercial real estate attorney in the Atlanta area for over 40 years. He also authored the well-known UGA football blog, Get the Picture, for almost two decades.
Michael met his future wife, Anita, while attending law school. After settling down in Atlanta, he soon became outnumbered in a household of four females (and a neutered cat). He was a wonderful father to his three daughters and will be greatly missed by his family.
He enjoyed music, grilling, good books and great food (especially barbecue). Michael could always be counted on to create the perfect playlist for any occasion and find the best places to eat in any town. He was often found with his friends, many of whom he had grown up with, whether it be traveling, playing poker, enjoying a good glass of wine, or laughing over past memories. He was happiest spending time with his family, listening to waves break on the beach in Amelia Island, and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs.
He is survived by his wife Anita, his three daughters Sara, Rachel and Abigail, his brother Robert (Marsha), his sister Brenda, his nephew Nate, and his two grandpups, Raylan and Henry. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses affiliated with Emory Hospital for their care during his illness. The memorial service will be private. Donations in memory of Michael may be made to a charity of your choice.
