John (Jack) Forrest Gee, III died November 5th at the age of 77. An Atlanta native, Jack was born on October 30, 1941 to the late John Forrest Gee, Jr. and Dixie Miller Gee. He was a 1959 graduate of Brown High School and a 1963 graduate of Georgia Tech where he earned a B.S. in Industrial Management. Jack was a U. S. Air Force veteran where he attained the rank of captain and served for 5 years including a tour of duty on the island of Okinawa.
A proud 37 year employee of Delta Air, lines he retired as purchaser of ground equipment and maintenance services. He had previously served as a methods analyst and as supervisor/manager of pension plans.
A 44 year resident of Sandy Springs he and his wife Anne recently moved to Park Springs, a continuous care retirement community in Stone Mountain.
He grew up in Gordon Street Baptist Church. As a longtime and dedicated member of Wieuca Road Baptist Church since 1980, Jack selflessly served in numerous leadership positions through the years including chairman of the diaconate and went on several mission trips. His strong Christian faith was always instrumental in everything he did.
Jack enjoyed traveling, photography, coin and pin collecting, studying American history and Georgia Tech football. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. Known as Pop, his granddaughters were the joy of his life. He will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Anne Fears Gee of Stone Mountain, daughter and son-in-law Laura and John Haslam and granddaughters Claire Fears Haslam and Brooke McCall Haslam all of
Savannah. He was also predeceased by his granddaughter, Charlotte Anne Haslam.
The family wishes to thank his caregiver, Patrick Akpessey, and the staff at Pebblebrook Health Center at Park Springs as well as the many friends who have been so supportive during his illness.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, November 9th at 11 o'clock at Wieuca Road Baptist Church, 3626 Peachtree Road, Atlanta. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 8th, from 6:00-8:00 at H. M. Patterson's Arlington Chapel, 1173 Allen Road in Sandy Springs. Interment will be following the service at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mount Vernon Highway in Sandy Springs.
