Joan Barbara (nee Weinberg) Devine, 1930-2018, passed away quietly in her Dunwoody home Monday night, March 19, 2018. A loyal and loved wife, loving mother/sister/aunt, respected co-worker, helpful neighbor and enduring friend, she was born and raised in the Flatbush community of Brooklyn, New York. She graduated James Madison High School in 1948. While working at Montgomery Ward in Manhattan in 1950, she met David Devine of Ozone Park, Queens, dated and married in October of 1952. They were married 48 years until his passing. In 1971 she began working for Fulton National Bank (now Bank of America) from where she retired in 1994. She was preceded in death by her parents, Irving and Violet Weinberg; her brother, Walter Weinberg; and her husband, David Devine. She is survived by her sister, Shirley Kotcher of Manhasset, NY; son, Robert Devine of Dunwoody, GA; nieces Dana (Kotcher) Choy, Diane (Devine) Speert, Joellen (Boley) Young and Lynn (Boley) Jackson; nephews Matthew Weinberg, Joshua Weinberg and Asher Weinberg; great nieces Katie (Young) Kingman, Kristen (Young) Miller and Kate Devine; great nephews Cary Kotcher, Andrew Timothy, Joshua Speert, Bryan Jackson and Andrew Devine.
Visitation is Saturday March 24 from 1PM until 3 PM at Sandy Springs Chapel, Sandy Springs, GA. Internment will be on Wednesday, March 28 at 1PM at Beth David Cemetery in Elmont, NY. The family will receive visitors at Boulevard Riverside Funeral Home in Hewlett, NY at 11:30AM.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Kidney Foundation or the American Heart Association. Thank you.
