Candice "Candy" Satterfield passed away Friday, September 29, 2017 after a brief illness. Candy was born in Spartanburg SC to Fae Faulkner Smith and James Leslie Smith. The family moved to Greenville, SC when Candy was young and she grew up there. Candy was active in the Greenville Little Theatre where she appeared in a number of productions during her teen years. She met her future husband, Clyde "Rock" Satterfield, at the Theatre. She attended Erskine College. She and Rock married in 1966 and settled in Atlanta in 1971. Candy taught dancing at the Ruth Mitchell Studio until rheumatoid arthritis forced her to give up dancing. She was an engaged volunteer and especially enjoyed ushering more than 20 years at the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the Alliance Theatre. Candy was a devoted wife, a loving, caring mother to their son Les (Suzanne), and a special Grandmommy to grandson James Declan Satterfield. A funeral service will be held Friday, October 6, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Sunrise Chapel of Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mount Vernon Highway NW, Sandy Springs GA 30328. The family will receive friends in the Sunrise Chapel one hour prior to the service.
