Thomas Brooks Patterson, age 72, passed away unexpectedly at his home on December 5, 2024. Brooks was born on November 16, 1952, to the late Edward Chaloner Patterson and Patricia Brooks Patterson.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Susan Singer Patterson, and their two sons, Brooks Jennings Patterson and Robert Chaloner Patterson (Lindsey). Brooks, aka, "BB", was a very proud grandfather to Thomas "Brooks" Patterson, II and Hollis George Patterson. He is also survived by his sisters, Amy Alberson (Larry), Louise Smith and Patricia Patterson and his brother-in-law Sam Singer, Jr. (Jaime).
Brooks "grew up" at the Cathedral of Christ the King, attending church there and school through the eighth grade. His high school years were spent at the Marist School, graduating in 1970. He then went on to graduate from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Business Administration, 1974. While at Vanderbilt, Brooks was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Back in Atlanta, after working several years, Brooks went back to school and received his MBA from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University, in 1979.
Brooks had a successful career as a commercial real estate developer and investor in the southeast. He had many lifelong passions, but none greater than his love for golf. Some of his fondest memories were of playing golf with his friends and spending time with his family in the Florida Panhandle. Brooks took pride in the fact that his family shared in his faith in Christ and in his support for the Church. He was a member of various organizations, including All Saints Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 11402, Peachtree Golf Club, The Nine O'Clocks and the Forum Club.
A funeral Mass celebrating Brooks' life will be held at All Saints Catholic Church, Dunwoody, GA, Tuesday December 17, 2024, at 2:00 PM. The burial will take place in Fort Walton Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home, 760 Pollard Blvd., SW, Atlanta, GA 30315 (donations via check only).
