Bradley Evan Wahl

Bradley Evan Wahl, 60, of Atlanta, passed away on July 21, 2020, after a six-year battle with cancer. Brad was born in Bay Shore, New York on March 8, 1960. He received his BA in political science from Union College in 1982 and his JD from Vanderbilt Law School in 1985. He spent most of his professional career at Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, where he became a leader in the commercial finance group, excelling in his work, while building close relationships with both colleagues and clients. His banking clients thought of him as preeminent in his field, seeking his counsel whenever they needed to talk to an expert. While he maintained a high level of professionalism, he was laid back, casual, and made everyone feel comfortable. Brad had a great sense of humor – which he maintained even through his most challenging times. He loved to share stories of his youth with everyone – even those who might prefer not to hear them! He could relate just about every situation he encountered back to his days at the Chatterbox nursery school (the only diploma on his office wall), his numerous jobs during his youth (including paperboy, asbestos plant cleaner, grocery store bagger, and ice bucket factory worker), his one day of college psychology, or his college study abroad trips. He had a fantastic memory and would include full names of everyone involved in his stories (even though no one had any idea who these people were!). He enjoyed the simple things in life - watching Premier League soccer and Formula 1, attending golf tournaments, playing “old man” hockey, going to the pub to watch sports (and having wings and beer), traveling with Jennifer, vacationing at the beach, reading biographies of historical figures, and quiet evenings at home (drinking scotch and watching Jeopardy, the Big Bang Theory and Antiques Roadshow). He elevated “relaxation” to an art form and lived in blue jeans and lounge wear. He loved trivia and was a great connoisseur of completely useless information – which he also loved sharing with everyone! But by far his greatest joys in life were his family and doing all of the things he loved with them. Jennifer was the love of his life, and he could not have been more supportive and proud of his children, Evan and Julia, and his stepsons, Nick and Chris. Brad is survived by his wife, Jennifer Malinovsky; son, Evan Wahl (Devon); daughter, Julia Wahl; stepsons, Nicholas and Christopher Bunner; brothers, Lee Wahl (Michele) and Andrew Wahl (Ada); and sisters, Jessica Wahl and Valerie Wahl and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Matthew Wahl, first wife Laura Hanson, and parents Cynthia (Fischer) and Sanford Wahl.

A private service will be held at this time and a public Celebration of Life will take place at a later date (post-COVID when it is safer to gather together in a large group and celebrate Brad).
