Peter was born on June 18, 1964, grew up in Woburn and joined the U.S. Air Force upon his high school graduation. He rose to the rank of Sergeant in the avionics field and traveled the world. Hisfavorite location was Germany so he could ski and then travel to the Alps to ski some more. At the time of his death, he was working on Cape Cod as a finish carpenter. Carpentry was his calling – his insistence on perfection and a job very well done were hishallmarks.
Peter is survived by his family: Susan Toye Ferguson, Portland, ME (Richard B. Ferguson, Richmond, VA), Lawrence and Sarah Toye, Burlington, MA, Elaine Mesmer (the late Martin J. Mesmer), Ashburn,VA and Robert and Lorene Toye, Newburyport MA. His nieces and nephews are Bethany Toye O’Regan (Keith), Marc Mesmer (Elizabeth Clapp), Catherine Mesmer (Wesley Caparrato), Carolyn Toye-Roesch (Benjamin) and Cameron Toye. He is also survived by a great nieceand four great nephews and his aunt, Mrs. Patricia Galvin of Lexington along with 25 first cousins on both sides of the family.
He was predeceased by his parents, Charles L. Toye of Woburn and Mary Toye Whelan and his stepfather, Thomas M. Whelan, both of Marstons Mills, MA. His grandparents were the late Mr. and Mrs. JohnJ. Galvin of Arlington, MA.
The family would like to especially thank his life-long friend, Dennis Mills, who is the very definition of the word friend.
Due to COVID restrictions the family will have a military memorial service when guidelines are less restrictive, followed by a celebration of his life at the Kettle Ho in Cotuit.
