John Richard Teixeira

Tex was born on January 23, 1952, to the late Acacio and Antonetta (DeLuca) Teixeira. He and his younger brother Anthony grew up in Hopedale, MA, working on their grandparents' neighboring farm. He graduated Hopedale High School in 1970, which is where he met his best friend and future wife, Susan. After studying History at UMass Amherst, he and Susan married in 1974 and worked at the family's restaurant as they started their life together on the Cape.

Tex managed Bobby Byrne's Pubs in Hyannis and Sandwich for nearly twenty years, and was the beer & wine manager at Windfall Market in Falmouth for the last thirteen years. Tex was a lover of blues music, a life-long history buff, and a New England sports fan across the board. He also took great joy in golf, playing regularly at Cape Cod Country Club where he met many of his closest friends. Most of all, he was a wonderful husband and incredible father to his three children.

Tex is survived by his wife of over forty years, Susan (Macchi) Teixeira; his son, Anthony J. Teixeira of Centerville; his daughters, Jacquelyn Teixeira of Dennis and Joanna Teixeira of Pawtucket, RI; his brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Lenora Teixeira of Sandwich; his aunt, Mamie Ferreira of California; his aunt, Hilda Joy of Oregon; his uncle and aunt, Antonio Jr. and Rosemary Teixeira of Worcester; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lynne and Steve Castiglioni of Bellingham, MA; cousins Lisa, Joseph and Paul; nieces and nephews Jason, Kendra, David, Aiden, Michela, Michael, Brian, Heather, Tarah, Scarlett, Dax, and Evelyn; his third and last beagle Benito Mazzone; as well as many cherished friends who have become family to us over the years.

A celebration of Tex's life will be held on Saturday, October 31 at 12 pm, at Falmouth Navigator, 55 Ashumet Road, East Falmouth MA. RSVP appreciated to [email protected]. In lieu of flowers, a fund for a memorial will be established at a later date.
