Born in Johnstown, PA, Skip lived his early years in Natrona Heights, PA. At Penn State he received 2nd Lieutenant rank in the ROTC program where he graduated with a degree in Zoology. At PSU he met and married his wife of fifty five years, Jeanne. His love of flying led to earning his private pilot license. His next step was flight school in the USAF. Skip served proudly as a Captain in Vietnam receiving a Distinguished Flying Cross and several other flying metals.
Skip was a much loved Biology teacher at Bourne High School for 29 years and earned a master’s degree at Bridgewater State.
Making his home in Forestdale for forty five years, Skip enjoyed Penn State football, clamming and hosting a Home Fellowship Group for his church friends. Skip had the joy of pitching a “no hitter” for his Covenant softball team.
Skip is survived by his wife Jeanne, his son Craig and wife Meghan (Schafer). His great joy was being grandfather to Alex. He is predeceased by his brother Harve, and sister Betty Rafalko.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer’s Association or to The Good Neighbor Fund at Covenant Community Church.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 13th at Covenant Community Church, East Sandwich at 11am. Burial will be held by family at the National Cemetery in Bourne, MA on April 15th.
