Barbara J. Allen (Morris), 76, of Sandwich, MA passed away peacefully on March 17, 2019 at Cape Heritage Nursing Home in Sandwich surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 50 years Philip Allen.
She was born in Dorchester, MA in 1942 to the late Charles and Evelyn Morris (Ritchie). She was raised in North Quincy and attended North Quincy High School, and attended Sacred Heart Church in North Quincy. After high school she worked for an insurance company, followed by the Federal Communication Commission.
Barbara and Phil lived in Sandwich, Ma most of their life together where they raised their three sons. She taught Sunday school at the church in the center of town that is now the Belfry Inn. Barbara excelled at knitting, sewing, baking, and gardening. She enjoyed reading and being near the ocean, often taking her coffee and the newspaper to sit by the beach or the marina early in the morning. She was a loving aunt to all her nieces and nephews, taking them to the special places in Sandwich such as Shawme Pond to see the swans and Snake Pond for swimming. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband Philip, her sons; Dennis Allen of Worcester, MA, Matthew Allen of Sandwich, MA, Jonathan and wife Maria of Sagamore Beach, MA, her grandson Dominic Allen also of Sagamore Beach, MA. Her siblings; Marjorie and her husband Seamus Kelly of Sandwich, MA, Charles and wife Barbara of Hanover, MA, Frederick and wife Eleanor of East Bridgewater, MA, Carol and husband Jim Shannon of Braintree, MA, Her sister-in-law Mary Morris of Weymouth, MA, and she is predeceased by her brother Paul Morris.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday March 23rd 12pm at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 RT. 6A in Sandwich, MA. Visiting hours will be from 10-12PM followed by burial at Sandwich Town Cemetery.
