Bill was born on Nov. 29, 1931 to Warren and Lillian Jennings in Santa Rosa. He lived in Eureka, Oakland, and lastly in Half Moon Bay, with his siblings Kay, Sis and Bob. After graduating from Half Moon Bay High School,he began his career as a meat cutter.
Bill enlisted in the army, where he served for 3 years from 1951 to 1954. He was assigned to bases in
Germany, Japan, Hawaii and then served active duty in the Korean War.
He met the love of his life, Esther, while stationed at Fort Huachuca in 1952, and married in the Catholic
church soon after in Benson, Arizona. They lived in San Mateo, El Granada and then moved to Santa Clara in 1956 where they lived in the same home for 63 years.
Bill and Esther enjoyed vacationing throughout the western states, especially visiting family in Arizona. He
loved camping, fishing and golf and Sunday drives. He was an active member of St Leo’s Parish in San Jose.
He will be lovingly remembered by wife Esther, daughters, Karen Espitia (Alejo) and Kathleen Vertson (John), grandchildren Rochelle Espitia, Michaela, Alex Hough, Hailey and Nolan Vertson.
