The St. Margaret Mary Catholic School Community and the class of 2021 alumni sends continued prayers for Nathan and the Chin Family.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Nathan.  When my son Will started school at St. Margaret Mary School, he was in the fifth grade and didn't know anyone.  He had to do a project (I believe it was for Social Studies) Nathan volunteered to work on the project with him.  Will was so happy to work on that project with him and to make a friend.  Nathan was a very kind and thoughtful friend to him.

The pediatric nurses at Good Samaritan Hospital just learned of Nathan's passing.  We are still in shock and devastated of the news. There are no words to express the deep condolences we would like to convey to you.  We will remember him as a pleasant, cooperative, charming young man. I went to school with Nathan until the end of fifth grade when he moved away, but I will never forget the time we had together in elementary school. We would always talk about Star Wars and he would share Disney facts and tell me all about the secrets that you could find in the Disney parks. Nathan was always kind to everyone, and would be there at the drop of a hat if anyone needed help; he was such a selfless person. He made such a positive impact on the people in his life and I know that his memory will be with all of us forever. I want to express my deepest sympathies and am keeping you all in my prayers. Nathan was a light that was taken from this world too soon and words, however kind, can not mend the pain you are going through. We care for you and share your grief. I wish you all comfort and peace of mind.  My sincere condolences to the Chin and Buhay family.

This was taken in October 2017.  The last time I saw Nathan as a kid, they were still living in IL then.

May 2023. I had not seen Nathan in 6 years so I was surprised to see him all grown up. He said he was part of the Filipino Club at school but he did not know how to speak Filipino. Regardless, I was very happy (and proud) that he was curious about that part of him.  He had a good heart and his values were in place.  You will be truly missed Nathan.

I missed Nathan too, but he is in a better place now. My prayers are with you and your family. Take care everyone

He wanted a picture of him in his dream car.

Such a hard worker and so enthusiastic and uplifting. Every year he made these long shifts feel so short.

He kept insisting on paying for dinner, a true gentleman.

We worked at VBC and had a blast even when we worked with different groups of children. I was blessed to lead Ian's group which was full of such sweet kids while Nathan had to deal with the occasional kid tackling or punching him in the stomach but was really patient and such a great leader. This was such a fun week for both of us and as the week came to an end Nathan took 2 girl scout cookie boxes and we ran off to conveniently avoid doing tear down as putting the decorations for VBC was already a lot of work.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Chrissy, Anthony and family. May Nathan rest in peace and find eternal happiness with our Lord.

Nathan would always go out of his ways to meet up and spend time with his friends. He is forever loved and and missed so much ❤️.

Nathan was very smart and helpful. He would always help his friends whenever they need it in academics and everything else.

Nathan was very generous and always got along well with everyone.

Nathan was always a happy camper. He was always willing to offer a helping hand to anyone in need.

Nathan was always so sweet. We were each other’s first friend at HFS. We found each other on the first day of school in 6th grade.

Nathan was the sweetest boy I ever knew. I so wanted Alex to marry him.  Rest in peace, sweet sweet, Nathan. We will always love you.

during the first semester of sophomore year, most of us shared 6th period off and decided to go to the mall together after school one day. we had a lot of fun and spent way too much time in the lego store

i vividly remember this moment at Monarch Madness 2023 when we gathered around and sung the liturgical theme song

this was a speech he gave to all his friends after finals st the end of sophomore year

Nathan was a very happy and energetic individual. I had the opportunity to meet him while attending a convention with my daughter and a few other friends. He laughed and understood my humor, I'm sure he was just trying to be considerate of my feelings. 

In observing his interactions with his friends, I could see that he wasn't afraid the be himself. He felt he could be goofy, talk about what was on him mind and just be himself. I feel that each of the kids brought their own special gift to the group and he inspired his friends to be fun loving, let their guard down and taught them that it is okay to enjoy life and be silly without hang ups. 

I am going to miss the light he brought into my daughter's life. He shared his gift of happiness with her only for a short moment, however his gift of life will have a lasting imprint on all those that had the privilege of meeting him.
