Mark's generosity defined him. He took me under his wing when I was down and out and made me a plumber. For that I am grateful.  When I returned to college, Mark told me I would never get out of plumbing. He was right. I'm saddened to learn of Mark's passing. 

My condolences to cousin Gary, Kathy and McGinnis Family.

Mark and I are first cousins.  Our mom's Connie and Irene are sisters.

I remember spending a lot of time and Aunt Irene and Uncle Chris's house.  Aunt Irene loved her kids and spoiled them in a good way.  Mark would tease me with names that rhymed.  It was in good fun.

I write this note in celebration of MARK MCGINNIS’ life.  I am Mark’s first cousin. 

When Mark was 6 he used to stay with my grandmother Anita, (aka Nana). He would do chores for her, go to the store and make food.  Even at such a young age, Marky took care of everyone. They lived within blocks of each other. He loved having Nana’s beans and home made tortillas. He especially liked her fresh hot tortillas with butter, right off the “placa.”  Nana adored Marky, and so did I.  When Nana died, Mark was very upset. I do not doubt that my Uncle and Aunt were a handful, but he never wavered in his love for them. He took care of many.  At a very young age, he thrust out into the world and never looked back. Even at 6, he was really 20. 

Never much for formal education, he chose the trade of Plumbing.  My Uncle Christopher, would explain to Mark that  only through hard work would you find success.  At times, I wished he did something else, but he was very committed. His company meant a lot to him.  In some respects, he was in too deep. He grew disenchanted with what he had created, but when we spoke about him giving up the business, he still felt obligated to not leave. Mark was a gentle giant. People thought he was a bull, but he was actually a fawn. 

He would tell me of his challenges and victories.  He was most proud of his children.  When it came time for getting into high school’s he wanted only the best for them.  He wanted something better for them, then he had.  He valued education, and didn’t want his children to go through what he did. He wanted them to be able to become more than he did.  Spiritually, he was at a higher plateau than most of us. He was truly an old soul. 

I will miss our talks, our meals together, our warm hugs and our family connection. Mark McGinnis was too good for this world.  He is now at peace. As we all attempt to make sense of this untimely passing, please pray for Valerie and all Mark’s children.  God Bless.


Mark will be always in my heart. Even though I have not seen him in a while I am thinking of him, Valerie and their kids all the time. They embraced my son when we were neighbors in Morgan Hill and our kids remain family to them. Mark will always live on and I will take comfort in the fact that we now have another angel watching over us.

We are sorry for your loss and I will always have fond memories of Mark. He was a great Parent and Grandparent always involved with his children and grandchildren. We would celebrate our birthdays in April together his was the 19th mine is the 20th,
We met many years ago and worked on many unusual plumbing problems together. He once told me he was afraid to take my calls. He said none the job I referred were easy. I would kid him and said if they easy I would fix them myself. We became close friends, and almost every day we would text or spoke on the phone. We met for lunch and breakfast often. He was a true friend and will be greatly missed.

So, so sorry to hear of Mark’s passing. Over the years went through a lot of ups and downs with Mark, but lots of great memories, from spending many Thanksgivings together, to spending time with us in SF to check out the Culinary Academy for my son, to taking my daughter (many times) all over the county to get her driver’s license, to being there for us when we had major issues with our home. I’ve always believed Mark to have one of the biggest, most generous hearts of anyone I know. I pray for peace and love for his family. Another Angel gets their wings.❤️🙏🏼

Mark and I only visited 2 times as adults.  But they were wonderful  visits full of many stories!  The McGinnis men are great storytellers.  Mark was no exception!  My dad - his Uncle Ed - was very proud of what a hard working man Mark was.  His passing was way too soon.   This Earth has one less McGinnis Leprecano😞.  Condolences to all my California cousins and relatives from myself and my husband Craig.
